Safety at AMI doesn't happen from behind a desk. It happens on the mill, on the paver, on the grader — wherever our team is working. As AMI is growing, we need a boots on the ground Safety Specialist, who is out there every day, walking job sites, checking in with crews, and making sure everyone goes home the same way they showed up. This role is best suited for someone who's hands-on, relationship-driven, and comfortable being the person who speaks up when something's not right — in a way that makes crews want to listen, not tune out.

What You'll Own:

• Be a visible, daily presence on active job sites across all divisions.
• Conduct routine site safety audits and inspections, and correct hazards on the spot whenever possible.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety training in the field, including bilingual (English/Spanish) content, so nothing gets lost in translation.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, document findings, and follow up on corrective action.
• Monitor PPE compliance, equipment safety, and job-site conditions, and coach crews in real time.
• Maintain OSHA-compliant records and support reporting, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and maintain DOT compliance across applicable operations, including driver qualification files, vehicle and equipment requirements, required documentation, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
• Build genuine relationships with crew leads and foremen so safety concerns get raised early, not after the fact.
• Partner with HR and Operations on onboarding safety training for new hires and ongoing certifications (CPR, first aid, equipment-specific training, etc.).
• Track safety trends across divisions and flag patterns before they become incidents.
• Champion AMI's “Put People First Always” core value in everything said and done on-site.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

• Experience in construction, paving, or heavy civil safety preferred; OSHA 30 (or willingness to obtain) required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred — our crews deserve safety training in the language they're most comfortable in.
• Comfortable being outdoors on active job sites daily, in all weather, across multiple locations.
• A natural relationship-builder who can walk onto any crew and earn trust fast.
• Direct, clear communicator who can deliver hard feedback without losing the room.
• Sharp eye for hazards and a genuine commitment to getting people home safe.
• Self-starter who can manage a multi-site schedule independently and know when to escalate.
• Discretion, a team-first mentality, and trustworthiness through and through.
