Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Financial Controller (CPA) to lead our financial operations and support the success of our construction projects. This role is both strategic and operational, serving as a key advisor to leadership while managing day-to-day financial activities. The Financial Controller will oversee project accounting, compliance with US GAAP, and the development of efficient financial processes as we continue to grow our U.S. branch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Lead project financial controlling: monitor project budgets and actuals, ensure accurate job costing and revenue recognition, and support project managers with financial reporting and variance analysis.
  • Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Coordinate and manage month-end and year-end close processes, including audits, tax filings, and third-party relationships.
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and reports for executive leadership, including variance analysis and recommendations for performance improvement.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Manage and optimize the company’s financial systems
  • Provide strategic input on cost control, risk management, and financial growth opportunities.
  • Supervise and mentor a small accounting team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in financial leadership and project accounting, experience in the construction industry would be ideal
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, project financial reporting, and construction accounting practices.
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems; experience with Sage Intacct or Sage 100 Contractor is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills in a lean environment.
