Concrete General Laborer (Commercial & Residential)

Job Overview

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Concrete General Laborer to support both our commercial and residential construction projects. In this role, you will handle hands-on tasks essential to daily operations, including site demolition, thorough cleanup, meticulous prep work, and the safe operation of basic power and hand tools. You will adapt to a variety of project environments, ranging from residential driveways and patios to commercial foundations and structural slabs.

Key Responsibilities

Site Demolition & Prep Work

• Break Up Materials: Use jackhammers, sledgehammers, and chipping guns to demolish existing concrete structures, sidewalks, and foundations.
• Excavate and Grade: Dig trenches, level dirt, and compact soil to prepare the ground for new concrete pours.
• Erect Formwork: Assist in measuring, cutting, and setting up wood or metal forms to hold the poured concrete.
• Install Reinforcements: Lay out and tie steel rebar or wire mesh to reinforce structural integrity.

Tool Operation

• Power Tools: Safely operate demolition hammers, concrete saws, plate compactors, and mixers.
• Hand Tools: Skilled use of shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, hammers, and basic leveling tools.
• Equipment Care: Inspect, clean, and maintain tools daily to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.

Cleanup & Site Maintenance

• Debris Removal: Shovel, haul, and load broken concrete, dirt, and construction waste into dumpsters or trucks.
• Tool Washdown: Thoroughly wash out concrete mixers, wheelbarrows, chutes, and hand tools before the concrete hardens.
• Safety Clearing: Maintain a clutter-free job site to eliminate tripping hazards and ensure a safe workspace for the crew.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, demolition, or concrete work preferred.
• Versatility: Comfortable adapting to the differing safety protocols and paces of both residential neighborhoods and commercial jobsites.
• Safety Mindset: Strict commitment to wearing PPE (boots, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection) and following OSHA guidelines.
• Reliability: Punctual attendance and reliable transportation to navigate to different local job sites.

Concrete General Laborers Requirements:

• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License
• Must be able to pass MVR
• Must be able to pass background check and drug test
• Must have 2 years or more of Concrete Construction experience
