FOKIS Mechanical is seeking a skilled and experienced Special Project Combo Plumber/Pipefitterto join our team within the mechanical industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems, plumbing fixtures, and associated mechanical equipment in commercial, or industrial projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
Project Overview:
This is a hands-onfield position for an experienced tradesperson who can take ownership of assigned projects from start to finish. Our Special Projects team handles renovations, equipment replacements, piping modifications, shutdowns, tenant improvements,
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the field execution of assigned projects from start through completion.
- Review project scope, drawings, specifications, schedules, and existing conditions.
- Perform field takeoffs and determine required materials, tools, equipment, and manpower.
- Coordinate material ordering and ensure materials are available before work begins.
- Plan daily and weekly work to maintain project schedules and labor expectations.
- Install, modify, repair, and replace commercial mechanical piping and plumbing systems.
- Work with chilled water, condenser water, heating hot water, domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, natural gas, and other mechanical/plumbing systems.
- Install carbon steel, copper, PVC/CPVC, cast iron, and other piping systems.
- Perform grooved/Victaulic, ProPress, threaded, soldered/brazed, and welded piping installations as qualified.
- Install valves, pumps, coils, strainers, equipment connections, supports, and related components.
- Coordinate shutdowns, tie-ins, equipment replacements, and other critical project activities.
- Communicate field conditions, scheduling concerns, additional work, and potential change-order items to project management.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, timecards, material documentation, and required project records.
- Complete testing, startup assistance, punch-list work, cleanup, and project closeout.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman-level experience as a plumber, pipe fitter,and/or welder required.
- 5+ years of commercial or industrial experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical piping and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/plumbing drawings and specifications.
- Ability to independently lay out piping and determine fittings, elevations, routing, and support requirements.
- Experience with renovations, equipment replacements, shutdowns, and piping modifications.
- Grooved piping and ProPress experience preferred.
- Welding experience and applicable certifications are a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting, planning, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in occupied or sensitive facilities, particularly healthcare environments, preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Must provide basic hand tools required for the trade.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Must successfully complete required background checks and drug screenings.

Candidates must be willing to move between projects and work nights and weekends when project schedules, shutdowns, or customer needs require it.
