Description

Position Description

The Federal Construction Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules for federal construction projects throughout the organization. This position serves as Gideon's scheduling subject matter expert and works closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and government clients to ensure project schedules accurately reflect scope, sequencing, progress, and contractual requirements.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical scheduling skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to identifying schedule risks and opportunities. This individual must be able to support multiple projects simultaneously while providing meaningful schedule analysis and recommendations that contribute to successful project execution.

Essential Duties

  • Develop, maintain and update project schedules utilizing Primavera P6
    • Create baseline schedules in accordance with contract requirements.
    • Develop project schedules for startup, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout activities.
    • Ensure schedules meet government contract specifications and scheduling requirements.
    • Develop resource- and cost-loaded schedules tied to contract CLINs and pay application cycles
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and subcontractors to obtain schedule updates and verify progress.
    • Conduct monthly schedule updates at a minimum.
    • Analyze schedule performance and identify critical path activities.
    • Monitor project milestones and completion forecasts.
    • Identify schedule risks and provide recommendations for corrective action.
    • Coordinate schedule integration with QC/QA three-phase inspections, submittal logs, and RFI tracking
  • Support project teams with schedule planning and execution.
    • Participate in project kickoff meetings and planning sessions.
    • Assist with development of recovery schedules when necessary.
    • Support schedule impact analysis related to change orders and unforeseen conditions.
    • Assist project teams in evaluating schedule alternatives and acceleration opportunities.
    • Prepare Time Impact Analyses (TIAs) and delay/impact narratives to support Requests for Equitable Adjustment (REAs) and claims.
  • Prepare and communicate schedule information to project stakeholders.
    • Generate schedule reports and narratives for internal and external use.
    • Prepare executive-level schedule summaries for Operations leadership.
    • Assist with schedule presentations and discussions with government clients when required.
  • Promote consistency and best practices throughout the organization.
    • Establish and maintain scheduling standards across projects.
    • Provide scheduling guidance and support to project teams.
    • Assist with training project personnel on scheduling processes and procedures.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project planning and execution

Qualification

  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction scheduling experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of federal construction scheduling experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Primavera P6 schedules.
  • Knowledge of federal construction contracting practices and scheduling requirements.
  • Experience supporting multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) or PMI-SP certification preferred

Required Skills

  • Experience with USACE and NAVFAC projects
  • Experience with Procore.
  • Residency in a HUBZone-designated area is a plus, as it supports the company's HUBZone certification eligibility (not required).

Additional Information

  • Travel: Estimated 15% Travel — role may require periodic visits to project sites across supported installations.
  • Site/Base Access: May require CAC or installation-specific access credentials depending on assigned project.
