Description

H.B. Neild is looking for highly motivated, experienced Project Engineer to join the best construction team in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.

 

As a Project Engineer for H.B. Neild, you will be expected to work safely and in the most professional manner possible to deliver a high quality product for our commercial and industrial clients.

 

Common daily tasks for Project Engineers include, but are not limited to:       

  • Prepare complete, accurate and timely submittal logs, plan sheet logs, and document distribution logs for construction projects based on project drawings and specifications.
  • Accountable for receiving approved submittals from Architect or Engineer and notifying the Project Superintendent of potential schedule impact.
  • Assist Project Manager by preparing all necessary back up relating to change requests and change orders.
  • Responsible for timely completion of all required project close-out documents per contract.
  • Coordinate and distribute contract documents to subcontractors, including drawings, specifications, and general conditions. Include any accepted alternates or addendums with documents.
  • Distribute final requirement documentation to subcontractors and office accounting for entry into project database.
  • Schedule all required construction meetings with required personnel, subcontractors, architects and owners.
  • Take accurate and complete meeting minutes and distribute timely to all involved parties.
  • Attend Owner/Architect pre-bid, kick-off, project and closeout meetings.
  • Solicit subcontractors and suppliers for proposal prior to proposal submission time.
  • Submit request for surety bond(s) and insurance certificates as required. Submit with signed contract to Owner.
  • Prepare correspondence with Owner, Architect, Engineers, Subcontractors, Suppliers, etc. Examples of referenced correspondence include, but not confined to the following items: Schedule of Values, project schedule, memos, RFI’s, transmittals and submittals.
  • Submit building permit application, follow-up on review progress and receive upon approval.
  • During Construction Phase, proactively manage project to achieve quality, schedule, budget and safety. Utilize and maintain tools: schedule and document management to track and record project performance. Notify project management of any potential over run on either budget or schedule.
  • Maintain customer (Owner, Architect, Engineer, Subcontractor, Supplier, and HBN Employees) relations and conduct project meetings.
  • Document quality and progress of each Subcontractor and Suppliers. Update Subcontractors and Suppliers of any changes to the plans, specifications and/or schedule though weekly and monthly project productivity (Job Update) reports.
  • Inform management of productivity, costs, quality control, document management and processing of applications for payment. Notify management of any issues that surface which affects quality, budget, progress and safety.
  • Monitor staffing needs, evaluate performance, and address employee relation issues as warranted for staff.
  • Assist with any bid day activities that may arise including, but not limited to subcontractor scope review, subcontractor buy-out, bid submission, etc.
  • Coordinate and assure deliverables from each department are issued in timely manner. These deliverables are and not limited to Rigging & Lifting plan, Job Specific Work Plan, Hot work risk assessment and mitigation plan, Constructability review, Scaffolding plan, Fabrication plan, Material load out plan, Site Logistics and Material Storage Map, subcontractor mobilization plan, JSA plan, etc.
  • Assist project superintendent in creating As-Built (red line) set of project documents including all RFI’s, ASI’s, and owner/architect correspondence.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field of study is preferred.
  • Experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software and other applicable software programs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and is adaptable to change.
  • General knowledge of office protocol, routines, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and proactive. Is able to accomplish tasks without direct oversight.
