Pheonix, AZ - Concrete Core Drilling Lead (TSMC)
Pheonix, AZ
Full Time

Description

We are seeking a highly detailed, safety-focused, and collaborative Concrete Core Drilling Lead to oversee and execute specialized drilling operations for our mechanical construction scope at the TSMC facility in Phoenix, Arizona. This role requires an expert technician who can also serve as an effective site leader. You will direct a crew of helpers and cutters, ensure absolute precision in high-stakes semiconductor environments, and communicate seamlessly across all levels of the organization, from field craft workers to senior project managers and TSMC stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Field Supervision & Production

    • Crew Leadership: Direct, schedule, and supervise a dedicated crew of concrete helpers and cutters to optimize field operations.
    • Drive Production Targets: Ensure daily production targets, metrics, and tight project timelines are met without sacrificing quality.
    • Lead Drilling Operations: Set up, operate, and maintain specialized core drilling rigs and diamond coring equipment for precise mechanical penetrations.
    • Blueprint & Layout Review: Review structural blueprints, architectural plans, and MEP layouts to verify exact drilling locations before making cuts.
    • Coordinate Scanning: Partner closely with GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) scanning technicians to avoid embedded rebar, post-tension cables, and electrical conduits.

Safety & Silica Dust Containment

    • Enforce Safety First: Champion an uncompromising zero-injury safety culture. Enforce strict adherence to OSHA 30 regulations and TSMC site-specific safety rules.
    • Strict Silica Dust Mitigation: Oversee rigorous silica dust containment measures. Ensure the continuous, correct use of HEPA and vacuum systems alongside meticulous wet slurry management to keep cleanroom environments immaculate.
    • Pre-Task Planning: Lead daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and pre-task safety briefs with the field crew.

Cross-Level Communication & Collaboration

    • Multi-Level Interfacing: Confidently report project metrics to project managers, coordinate daily sequencing with other trade foremen, and align directly with TSMC safety inspectors.
    • Cross-Functional Alignment: Work collaboratively with internal mechanical, piping, and HVAC teams to sequence drilling tasks efficiently and avoid trade friction.

Qualifications

Experience & Technical Skills

    • Core Drilling Expertise: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with commercial or industrial concrete core drilling and cutting.
    • Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of experience leading field crews, acting as a drilling foreman, or supervising concrete helpers and cutters.
    • Scanning Literacy: Proven ability to read and interpret GPR scanning layouts and structural concrete drawings.
    • Semiconductor Familiarity: Prior experience working on large-scale advanced technology facilities or active cleanroom sites is highly preferred.

Certifications & Language

    • Safety Credentials: Valid OSHA 30 certification is strictly required.
    • Language Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus to effectively direct and communicate with diverse field crews.
    • Equipment Mastery: Documented training or manufacturer certifications on industrial drilling equipment (e.g., Hilti, Husqvarna).

Core Behavioral Attributes

    • Safety-Focused: Absolute commitment to field safety, silica dust compliance, and cleanroom risk mitigation.
    • Detail-Oriented: Laser-focused on layout precision, depth accuracy, production metrics, and flawless clean-up.
    • Collaborative Communicator: Exceptional ability to build relationships, articulate technical field constraints, and partner effectively with both field labor and upper management.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

    • Location: On-site at the TSMC project in Phoenix, Arizona.
    • Conditions: Must be comfortable working in demanding industrial environments, wearing heavy PPE, and wearing cleanroom garments (bunny suits) as required.
    • Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy drilling equipment (up to 50+ lbs), work on ladders/scaffolding, and stand for extended periods.
