Description

The Panel Shop Technician is responsible for the physical assembly of custom electronic control panels designed by Perimeter Security Partners Project Engineers. The position will also support general warehouse operations by receiving and preparing shipments, maintaining stock of control panel components, and assisting the Inventory and Purchasing Manager with the tracking of all inventory. The Panel Shop Technician must have the ability to accurately assemble control panels only by referencing the shop drawings and deliver quality work in order to prevent rework in the field after delivery. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work independently with little supervision, to operate common hand tools, to manage multiple tasks efficiently, to document their work, and to develop process improvements within the scope of their responsibilities.

 

Duties:

The Panel Shop Technician will install electronic components on steel back planes, wire components within a panel, install back planes within steel enclosures, assemble pushbutton operator panels, prepare battery backup systems, and prepare completed panels for QC inspection and shipment. Additionally, the Panel Shop Technician will manage the storage of all materials associated with their work, receive incoming shipments of materials and equipment common to PSP’s work, prepare material shipments for pickup by the carrier, assist with the physical count of inventory, and track outgoing materials in the absence of the Inventory and Purchasing Manager.

 

The Panel Shop Technician’s duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

·       Installing electrical components into new operator and control panels.

·       Assemble electronic panels using hand tools and lifting equipment.

·       Tracking inventory of electrical components, wire, and other consumables.

·       Wire panels according to drawings and specifications.

·       Update panel drawings with any changes made during assembly.

·       Receive and inspect incoming shipments.

·       Prepare outgoing shipments for pickup.

·       Ensure all parts and materials consumed, shipped, or picked up from inventory are recorded.

 

Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications:

·       High School Diploma is required

·       Able to read and comply with panel drawings.

·       Prior experience with panel building preferred.

·       Prior experience with the use of hand tools in a production environment preferred.

·       Prior experience working under a safety plan or OSHA requirements is preferred.

·       Must have good personal habits, be technically conscientious, can stay on task and complete work on schedule, and can work independently as well as on a team.

·       3 years of experience in a professional work environment is required.

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required.

·       Must be able to complete standard pre-hire checks including background, drug screen, and references

 

Physical Requirements:

·       Ability to stand for several hours at a time is required.

·       Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to waist level is required.
