Position Summary
PVB Fabrications, Inc. (PVB), a direct-hire, multi-disciplined industrial construction and metal fabrication company, is seeking an experienced Multidisciplinary Estimator to prepare complete estimates for industrial construction and fabrication opportunities. This position will support structural steel, piping, mechanical, equipment installation, concrete, civil, earthwork, and related scopes of work.
The estimator will be responsible for managing opportunities from the initial review of bid documents through completion of the final estimate and proposal. The position will coordinate closely with construction, fabrication, project management, and operations personnel to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other bid documents.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Develop complete estimates for multidisciplinary industrial projects.
- Prepare labor, equipment, material, vendor, and subcontractor pricing.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and required clarifications.
- Coordinate with construction and fabrication operations regarding manpower, equipment, constructability, production, and schedule.
- Develop estimate summaries, qualifications, exclusions, schedules, and proposal documents.
- Participate in estimate reviews and incorporate management feedback prior to submission.
- Maintain organized estimate documentation and historical cost information.
- Support project handoff meetings following award.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of industrial construction or fabrication estimating experience.
- Experience estimating multiple disciplines, including structural steel, piping, mechanical, concrete, civil, and earthwork.
- Experience using Sage Estimating is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong understanding of labor productivity, equipment requirements, material pricing, and construction methods.
- Experience coordinating vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Sage estimating software.
