Assistant Controller

Reporting to ReArch’s Controller, the Assistant Controller plays a key role in managing the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, with primary oversight of Accounts Payable, weekly check runs, and support of month-end and year-end close processes.

The Assistant Controller leads the full-cycle Accounts Payable process and supervises AP staff, ensuring vendor and subcontractor payments are accurate, timely, and properly supported. This role also supports general ledger accounting and financial reporting through journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, and closing activities.

Working closely with Project Managers and Operations personnel, the Assistant Controller supports accurate job cost reporting, WIP schedules, project accounting, and insurance and compliance activities. This position also helps strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes and offers the opportunity to grow into broader financial leadership responsibilities within ReArch.

This is an in-person role based at our South Burlington, VT office, with occasional travel to project sites, other ReArch offices, and company meetings or events. The anticipated starting pay for this position is $92,500–$105,000/year, depending on experience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry. Candidates should have experience managing Accounts Payable processes and staff, along with a strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and monthly close processes.

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of GAAP and internal controls, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and proficiency with accounting and ERP systems. Experience with Sage 300 CRE, Sage Intacct, or other job-costing software and familiarity with construction accounting practices are preferred.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and analytical, with strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
