Description

Position Summary

We’re hiring a Skilled Pipelayer to support our civil construction crews installing underground utilities across Central Oregon. You’ll work on job sites installing water, sewer, storm drain, and related infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who’s experienced with underground utility installation, safety-minded, dependable, and comfortable working around heavy equipment in active construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install underground utility systems including water, sewer, and storm drain piping
  • Set pipe grade and alignment using lasers, levels, and grade stakes
  • Assist with trench preparation, bedding, pipe placement, and backfill operations
  • Work closely with excavator operators to safely guide pipe placement and trenching activities
  • Install manholes, catch basins, vaults, and other underground structures
  • Perform trench safety practices including shoring, trench boxes, and proper sloping
  • Assist with utility tie-ins, testing, and system inspections as required
  • Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and utility layouts
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all company safety policies
  • Safely work around active equipment, traffic, and changing job site conditions

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience installing underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
  • Strong understanding of pipe grades, elevations, and trench safety practices
  • Ability to read plans, grade stakes, and follow foreman direction
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting, shoveling, and working in trenches
  • Strong attention to safety and teamwork
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • 5+ years of underground utility installation experience
  • Experience with large diameter pipe, HDPE, ductile iron, PVC, or RCP
  • Experience setting manholes, structures, and vaults
  • Familiarity operating backfill equipment
