Description

The Service Project Manager (SPM) role involves overseeing multiple project lifecycles, from initial cost estimation to completion, for HVAC/plumbing installations, service projects, and large-scale repairs. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in HVAC system operations, strong project management expertise, and the ability to ensure cost-effective solutions while maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project requirements and customer needs to develop accurate cost estimates for HVAC service work, including repairs, replacements, and retrofits.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine project scope and material requirements.
  • Collaborate with service technicians, project managers, and sales teams to ensure estimates align with operational capabilities, and customer expectations.
  • Actively manage/mentor support personnel under your direct report (if applicable).
  • Obtain and evaluate multiple vendor quotes for equipment, materials, and subcontractor services to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals that outline labor, materials, and overhead costs, ensuring alignment with company pricing strategies and industry standards.
  • Communicate with customers to clarify project details, answer questions, and provide recommendations to optimize system performance and cost efficiency.
  • Track and manage bid deadlines, revisions, and approvals, ensuring timely and accurate submission of estimates.
  • Oversee post-estimate project handoff, providing clear scope, schedule & budget details to field personnel and service teams.
  • Manage HVAC service projects from planning to completion, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Coordinate with labor force leadership to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor project progress, managing any challenges to maintain efficiency and quality standards.
  • Manage multiple projects and bid opportunities simultaneously.
  • Utilize company CRM, bid, and project management platforms.
  • Create a detailed schedule that aligns with customer expectations, equipment lead times, and field team availability.
  • Communicate with customers throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates, ensuring satisfaction, and addressing concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and labor resources for assigned projects.
  • Track project costs and manage profitability, adjusting as necessary to stay within budget.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including contracts, change orders, and project reports.
  • Prepare required closeout package.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to improve service operations.
  • Coordinate with Area Supervisors and Foremen to schedule projects, maintenance, and repairs efficiently.
  • Drive personal sales goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, etc. ), Construction Management, or related field experience.
  • 5-7 or more years work experience project engineering in HVAC, MEP, or construction.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, ductwork, piping, refrigeration, and energy efficiency solutions.
  • Deep understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems, service processes, and industry standards.
  • Digitally savvy, including excellent PC application skills and the ability to quickly learn numerous custom software applications.
  • Proficiency in estimating and project management software (e.g.,Procore, Bluebeam, Fast Pipe, & Fast Duct).
  • Familiarity with HVAC load calculations and system design.
