Help turn construction plans into accurate, competitive bids.
At WestCor, a well-prepared estimate helps set a project up for success. We’re looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Wood Framing Estimator to prepare cost estimates for residential and commercial wood framing projects. You’ll review construction plans, calculate material and labor quantities, and work with suppliers and subcontractors to put together estimates that are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
If you enjoy working through plans, organizing the details, and bringing the pieces together into a clear proposal, this could be a great fit. From reviewing the scope to preparing the bid, you’ll help make sure each estimate reflects the materials, labor, equipment, and other costs the project requires.
What You’ll Do
Review plans and define the scope
- Review architectural, structural, and construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
- Identify project scope, exclusions, potential conflicts, and missing information
- Review addenda, revisions, and change orders, and update estimates accordingly
Build accurate, competitive estimates
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for wood framing materials, including lumber, studs, plates, headers, beams, joists, trusses, sheathing, blocking, hardware, and fasteners
- Estimate labor hours and production rates for framing crews
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses
- Request and evaluate material pricing from lumber suppliers
- Compare estimates against project budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
Keep bids and coordination moving
- Prepare bid proposals, pricing summaries, and cost breakdowns
- Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Maintain organized estimating files, takeoff records, and bid documentation
- Meet bid deadlines and follow up on submitted proposals as needed
What You’ll Bring
- Previous experience in wood framing estimating or residential and commercial construction
- Strong knowledge of wood framing methods, materials, and construction practices
- The ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Experience performing lumber, sheathing, hardware, and labor takeoffs
- An understanding of construction costs, labor productivity, and material pricing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple bids and meet deadlines
Preferred experience
- Experience estimating multifamily, single-family residential, townhome, or commercial wood framing projects
- Familiarity with e-Takeoff, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, STACK, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar estimating software
- Experience preparing estimates from schematic, design development, and construction documents
- Knowledge of framing labor production rates and subcontractor pricing
- Experience coordinating with general contractors, builders, and lumber suppliers
What Success Looks Like
Your material and labor takeoffs are accurate, your pricing is competitive and reliable, and bids and proposals go out on time. Assumptions, exclusions, and project scope are clearly documented, and estimating, project management, and field teams have the information they need from you.
Work Environment
This position involves working in an office. Occasional site visits may be necessary to verify project conditions or coordinate with construction teams.
Equal Opportunity Employer
