About the Role

Northern Sun Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Foreman to lead field crews on utility-scale solar installations across New York State. You'll be the on-site leader responsible for safe, code-compliant, on-schedule execution— installation of DC/AC wiring, combiner boxes, inverters, and final interconnection.

What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate a crew of electricians and installers on solar PV projects
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and project specs
• Oversee installation of conduit, conductors, inverters, combiner boxes, disconnects, and metering equipment
• Ensure all work meets NEC and AHJ/utility interconnection requirements
• Run daily safety briefings and enforce OSHA and company safety standards
• Manage materials, tools, and crew productivity to keep projects on schedule and budget
• Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and utility representatives
• Train and mentor apprentices and junior crew members

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, with 2+ years in a foreman or lead role
• Solar PV installation experience strongly preferred
• NYS Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or equivalent verifiable experience)
• Strong knowledge of NEC and solar-specific code requirements
• OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with utility-scale or ground-mount systems
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
